Aleeza Khan Bradner, founder Droplet Home Goods

We sat down with Aleeza Khan Bradner, the founder of swoon-worthy Droplet Home Goods to talk about her nightly bedtime rituals.

Double, Queen, or King?

King, all the way! There are usually at least 4 of us in our bed—between my husband and I, 2 young kids, and our dog! So a King is a MUST.

Why is a good night’s sleep important to you?

I’m one of those people who finds it hard to function on a very bad night’s sleep. It’s so important to me for my mental health.

How many hours of sleep do you get a night—or at least dream of getting?

Ha, good one! I dream of a full, undisturbed, 8 hours, but I usually end up somewhere in the realm of (hopefully!) 6 to 7, relatively undisturbed.

Are you a dreamer?

Most of the time. I love dreams.

What’s currently on your bedside table?

Ha - a monitor, a glass of water, a pile of baby books, and my phone.

Do you partake in any nightly routine before settling into bed?

Not every night, but my favourite nightly routine is definitely a relaxing, dimly lit shower. I then dry off a little with one of our Turkish towels, apply some serums, and dive into bed, covers pulled right up to my neck. It’s bliss.

Tell us about where the magic happens—and by magic, we mean sleep. How do you optimize your sleep environment?

We have black out blinds in our room and I swear by them. They create such an optimal sleep environment, even when I have my 4 years old’s knees in my back and my one year old in the crook of my elbow. . . !

If you feel a restless night coming on, is there anything you do to help get you through the night without waking?

Unfortunately my restless nights are usually out of my control! It all depends on the kids. If it’s me though, I usually ensure I’m hydrated, keep the phone away, and make sure my bottom sheet is pulled tight. There’s nothing I hate more than a loose bottom sheet!

What kind of pillows do you use to keep your head in the clouds?

We have giant King pillows that are great for lounging and being cozy, but when it comes to optimizing my sleep my Tempur-Pedic pillow is hard to beat. It feels like heaven molded to my head.

Last but not least, what is your number one piece of can’t-sleep-without advice?

Ask me again in a year or so when hopefully I can sleep without a kid on me! Lol. Oh, and wash your sheets often. There is no faster way to feel like a queen than to curl up in a freshly made bed.
