Sleep, wake, repeat. Read all about how our friends optimize their surroundings, unwind, and relax the mind for a good night—every night.
We sat down with Britt Barkwell, the founder of Trouvaille to talk about her nightly bedtime rituals.
Double, Queen, or King?
A cozy queen - I’m a cuddler.
Why is a good night’s sleep important to you?
Everything is better if I’ve had a decent sleep - my kids and husband would agree ;)
How many hours of sleep do you get a night—or at least dream of getting?
These days, I will take as many as I can get…(I have two kids under five…)
Are you a dreamer?
What’s currently on your bedside table?
Casper Glow Light, Morihata Charcoal eye mask, Dr Barbara Sturm cream, and a stack of books that I intend to read one day...
Do you partake in any nightly routine before settling into bed?
Bedtime is probably my favourite part of the day. I love to unwind after a long day with a hot bath or shower and Susanne Kaufmann’s Essential Bath Oil. I am a big fan of a nightly skincare routine (and a bit of a product junkie). Some of my favourites are Dr. Dennis Gross Exfoliating Pads, Ormedic Lip Enhancement and Dr Sebagh’s Vital Cream.
Tell us about where the magic happens—and by magic, we mean sleep. How do you optimize your sleep environment?
Cool temps, foam pillow, and crisp sheets.
If you feel a restless night coming on, is there anything you do to help get you through the night without waking?
I recently discovered the Calm app and it’s been a lifesaver.
What kind of pillows do you use to keep your head in the clouds?
I’m a big fan of the Casper foam pillow - it’s a dream.
Last but not least, what is your number one piece of can’t-sleep-without advice?
I feel I sleep better if I am prepared for the next day. I’m a big list person so before I retire my phone for the night I like to review my calendar and to-do’s for the day ahead.
